Escape from Devil's Island (OT: Condemned ) is an American feature film and early sound film with Ronald Colman and Ann Harding from 1929 based on the novel Condemned to Devil's Iceland by Blair Niles.
Action
The young and charming thief Michel and the ruthless murderer Jacques banished to Devil's Island. The penal colony is led by the dictatorial director Vidal. Meanwhile, beautiful young woman feels uncomfortable on the tropical island. Michel will house servant at Vidal and begins with the woman of the house a friendship. As Vidal is carefully gossip about Michel and his wife, he puts his wife to task. Although she is now in love with Michel, she swears her husband that Michel was innocent.
Michel is placed in solitary confinement and shipped to the feared prison island of St. Joseph. Vidal wants to send his wife back to France. By Jacques they can with Michel contact. Michel is planning his escape and wants to meet his lover on board a steamer. When Michels attempt to escape drowning Vidal. Jacques is shot and dies. Michel manages to escape; he swears his beloved unswerving loyalty.
