Conditioner (farming)

Conditioners also known as the preparer, are used in agriculture for the mechanical treatment of green waste to accelerate its drying. The evaporation- inhibiting wax layer is partially destroyed by or pinched.

Benefits

The rapid drying of the crop makes it possible to perform all the steps of fodder conservation in one day. Breathing losses of the plant are reduced. In addition, the disintegration losses are reduced in silage production by the saved Zetten / Apply.

Disadvantages

When haymaking the disintegration losses increase. Rain significantly prolongs the following drying and degrades forage quality more than unaufbereitetem crop.

Method

Construction equipment

Conditioners are often built on disc mowers and mower conditioners are called. The power requirement then increases by about 15 kW per meter working width. These two processes can be distinguished:

  • The treatment by means of rollers. Here the crop is crushed by means of a smooth or corrugated steel or rubber rollers. The combined arrangement is possible. In leafy crop this form of treatment should be given preference to.
  • The treatment by means of a rotor. Tines or Schlegel throw the green waste through a metal comb and bend the stalk. The processing intensity is adjustable.

Intensivaufbereiter

These machines are stand-alone devices and are used in an additional operation after mowing. The technique is designed so that disintegration losses are largely avoided. Rainfall effect here, however serious effect on the quality.

  • The Press Matt edited the swath with rollers so intense that it bonded by the emerging plant juice into one another. Higher stubble is therefore necessary to ensure that subsequent loading of the mat.
  • The Intensivkonditionierer stores a very loose windrows, which also does not need to be processed.

Although the Intensivaufbereiter do excellent work, they could not prevail in practice because of the high purchase price, the limited field of application, the large power requirement and low surface coverage.
