Confectionery

Confectionery (Latin confectum prepared ') is a general term for fine sugar and baked goods such as candied fruits, chocolates similar products (chocolate share below 25 %), fondants, etc. In Austria and Switzerland it is a collective term for biscuits.

The common since the 16th century in today's meaning of the word comes from pharmacists language in which it was used in the 15th century for fruits that were eingezuckert or boiled for healing purposes.

Confectionery was manufactured by the German space then new guild of confectioners and today falls under the general term confectionery.
