Confederación de Trabajadores de Venezuela

The Confederación de Trabajadores de Venezuela, founded in 1936 (CTV ) was for decades the dominant 'Federation of Venezuela and was under the strong influence of the social-democratic party Acción Democrática (AD). Since the 1990s, especially since the power loss of the AD and the accession of Chavez in 1999, the CTV has lost much of its influence and members. CTV currently has only about a quarter of members compared to the currently largest trade union federation Union Nacional de Trabajadores ( UNT ).
