Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions

The Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions is an alliance of eight unions in Ethiopia.

The President of the Confederation of Ethiopia Alemayehu Amare is, the seat is located in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. In December 2007, this group had 203,560 members. The Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions is connected to the World Federation of Trade Unions and is considered to be controlled by the government.

The Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions was founded in January 1977 under the Derg regime of Mengistu Haile Mariam as the Gesamtäthiopische union. The Gesamtäthiopische union changed its name in 1986 to the Ethiopian union to, from 1993 it was called then finally confederation Ethiopian trade unions.

The Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions held its last regular meeting, a total of 23, from 10 March 2009. They celebrated the solution of disputes within the workers' movement.
