Configuration space

The configuration space is described by the generalized coordinates. It is the n-dimensional hyperspace of the state space, which is formed by the independent degree of freedom of a system. Any actual movement may be projected from the state space to configuration space. In contrast to the phase space of the configuration space is not formed from the impulse of the individual elements, and therefore only the current configuration and the current state of the system is shown during the further movement of the individual elements can not be derived.

Of importance, the term configuration space, for example in robotics.
