Confluencia Department

The department Confluencia lies to the east of the province of Neuquen in southern Argentina and is one of 16 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered to the north by the Departamento ANELO, in the east and southeast to the province of Río Negro, on the southwest by the Departamento Picún Leufú and to the west by the Departamento Zapala.

The capital of the department Confluencia is the provincial capital of Neuquén.

Population

According to estimates by the INDEC, the population increased from 314 793 inhabitants (2001) to 475 305 inhabitants in 2005.

Cities and Towns

The department Confluencia divided into six municipalities of the first category ( Centenario, Cutral - Có, Neuquén, Plaza Huincul, Plottier, Senillosa ), a town of the second category (Vista Alegre ), a third class municipality (Villa El Chocón ) and the Comisión de Fomento sauzal Bonito. Other settlements are Arroyito, Barrio 11 de Octubre, Barrio Ruca Luhe, Challaco, El Chocón ( Barrio Llequén ) and Planicie Banderita.
