Cong Su

Cong Su (苏 聪Chinese, Pinyin Su Cong, born in 1957 in Tianjin ) is a German composer, musician and professor of Chinese origin at the Film Academy Baden- Wuerttemberg.

Life

Cong Su studied from 1978 to 1982 at the Central Conservatory of Music (中央 音乐 学院) in Beijing. Then he moved to Germany, where he studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich 1982-1985 music theory, music analysis, film and ballet music. After graduating, he was appointed lecturer at the University of Augsburg. From 1989 to 1991 he taught again in Munich and since 1991 professor at the Film Academy Baden- Wuerttemberg.

Together with David Byrne and Ryuichi Sakamoto, he won for the soundtrack to Bernardo Bertolucci's epic film The Last Emperor the Oscar for Best Film Score, a Golden Globe for Best Original Score and a Grammy.
