Conga line

Conga is a Cuban carnival rhythm. It is used by the various Comparsa troops on congas with shoulder strap (in the U.S. for a role of the singer, actor and producer Desi Arnaz " ricardo " otherwise " BOCU "), and bells or other metal parts like hoes, brake drums or " sartenes " (two for hanging on a board nailed with strap small pans ) and bass drums played. These will usually also the Corneta China, a woodwind instrument played. The different groups have their own songs, which are sung to it.

Originally, the Conga was the music of slaves to festivals such as the Carnival, Epiphany or Feast of Corpus Christi. In the first years of the republic, it was used because of their popularity with political lyrics for moves in election campaigns. In the late 1930s it became popular in the United States. Band leader Desi Arnaz and Xavier Cugat they played, and some years it belonged to the fixed program points of a Hollywood comedy. It is still the " Conga Line" to the corresponding rhythm of the usual replacement for the Polonaise in the USA.
