Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments#Vox Clara commission

The committee, Vox Clara (English: Committee "Clear voice"; German: Committee " Clear Voice " ) is one of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments assigned committee. It is responsible for the translation of Latin liturgical texts into the English language. The institution was established on 19 July 2001 at the initiative of the " International Commission on English in the Liturgy" and should start to 2008 in an advisory capacity in the revision of the Missal. Then, it was converted into a permanent institution for the Congregation.

Organization

The Commission normally meets once a year for two or three days. Their last meeting was held from 24 to 26 July 2011 in Rome. The Bureau consists of the President George Cardinal Pell ( Sydney ), the first deputy Bishop Thomas James Olmsted ( Phoenix), the second deputy Oswald Cardinal Gracias ( Bombay ), the Secretary Bishop Arthur Joseph Serra setting ( Paterson ) and the Treasurer Francis Cardinal George, OMI ( Chicago). Other members are: Archbishop ( emeritus) Alfred Clifton Hughes ( New Orleans), Archbishop Michael Neary ( Tuam ), Archbishop Terrence Thomas Prendergast, SJ ( Ottawa ), John Cardinal Tong Hon ( Hong Kong) and Auxiliary Bishop David McGough Christopher (Birmingham). There may be additional consultants are appointed. The committee works closely with the English-speaking bishops' conferences.
