Congress Column
The Congress Column ( Colonne du Congrès / Congreskolom ) is a monument on the Congress Square ( Place du Congrès / Congresplein ) in Brussels. The column recalls the creation of the Belgian state and the Constitution by the National Assembly from 1830 to 1831. On the initiative of Charles Rogier it was built 1850-1859. The design is by Joseph Poelaert and was inspired by the Trajan column in Rome.
