Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists

The Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists ( German for Congress Ukrajinskych Nazionalistiw, in short: KUN) is a nationalist and conservative political party in Ukraine. It is represented in the Ukrainian Parliament through their membership in the Alliance bloc Our Ukraine.

History

The party was founded in 1992 as a successor to the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists ( OUN ). Among the founders was its chairman Slava Stezko, widow of Yaroslav Stezko who was then elected in 1997 and 1998 as a Member of the KUN. 1994 moved the party with five members for the first time in the Verkhovna Rada. It has its center of gravity due to the Ukrainian- nationalist orientation since its founding in western Ukraine. 1998 failed KUN, started an alliance of nationalist parties, on re-entry into the Parliament, however, received three direct mandates, and joined because of the 2002 block of Nasha Ukraine Corporation. About this since it is represented in the Ukrainian parliament. The KUN is actively involved in the demonstrations of Euromaidan in the years 2013 and 2014.

Political orientation

The Congress is the official youth organization of the OUN, one directed against the USSR nationalist Union of Ukraine from the 20s and 30s of the 20th century. Because of this collaboration will with Nazi Germany and anti-Semitic remarks made by the chairman of the KUN is politically controversial.
