Connie Meijer

Connie Meijer ( born February 5, 1963 in Vlaardingen, † August 17 1988 in Naaldwijk ) was a Dutch cyclist.

1982 and 1983 was Connie Meijer Dutch Vice - Champion in the Omnium on the track, in 1984 she won the national title in the road race and won a stage of the Grande Boucle Féminine. The UCI Road World Championships 1987 in Villach, she was third in the road race.

The following year, Connie Meijer died at the age of 25 years while a criterion of a cardiac arrest. The cause of a protracted flu virus, but also doping abuse was suspected. The masseur Willy Voet Festina Meijer mentioned in his book Gedopt related to doping and had to cancel the passage after protests of the family and the Dutch Cycling Federation.

In memory of Connie Meijer is the Parel van Veluwe, the Meijer had won in 1988 itself, which awarded Connie Meijer Trofee the women's race.
