Features

The flies reach a body length of 10 to 13 millimeters. Her face is yellow and has a brownish Kiel. The forehead is completely black. Occurrence and life

The animals are prevalent in Europe and North Africa. They are rare and only locally common in central Europe. They live in an open area such as meadows and roadsides and prefer dry habitats such as grasslands. They fly from July to September with a maximum in August. They are found on arable thistles, oregano and other flowers.
