Conor Daly

Conor Daly (born 15 December 1991 in Noblesville, Indiana) is an American race car driver. He won the 2010 Star Mazda Series. He started from 2011 to 2013 in the GP3 Series.

His father is the former race car driver Derek Daly.

Career

Daly began his motor racing career at the age of ten years in karting and remained active until 2010 in this sport. In parallel, he was in winter 2006/2007 his debut in Formula racing and was 44th in the Skip Barber Southern Regional Series. In the 2007 season, Daly competed in several Formula series. The most successful he was in the Skip Barber Eastern Regional Series, in which he had become with four wins in six starts seventh. He also appeared to be four races in the Skip Barber National Championship and was 22nd in the Drivers' Championship. In 2008, he remained in the Skip Barber National Championship and won 5 of 14 races. At the end of the season he won against Josef Newgarden and was with 388 to 372 points champion. 2009 saw Daly in the Star Mazda Series to Andersen Racing. He won a race and finished the season in third place in the championship. The following season he moved within the Star Mazda Series at Juncos Racing. Daly won 7 of 13 races and finished every race in the top four pilots. The title duel he decided against Anders Krohn with 539 to 460 points clearly for itself.

2011 Daly went in the European GP3 series for Carlin at the start. With three points standings he finished the season on top of the 17 championship course. In addition, Daly took part in five races in the Indy Lights for Sam Schmidt Motorsports. After he had led the championship in the meantime with a win, he finished the season 13th overall. 2012 Daly moved within the GP3 series with ART Grand Prix, the champion team of the preseason, which competed as Lotus GP. Daly won a race and was five times on the podium. He finished the season in sixth place overall and thus was subject to his teammate Daniel Abt and Aaro Vainio, who were second and fourth.

After Daly had completed GP3, GP2 and IndyCar test rides in winter, he first received a cockpit for the opening round of the GP2 Series at Hilmer Motorsport. He scored with a seventh place points. Then Daly returned to the GP3 series, in which he stayed with ART. In Valencia he won the feature race. He closed the 2013 season on top of the third overall with 126 points. This placed it between his teammates Facu Regalia and Jack Harvey, who had scored 138 and 114 points. In addition, Daly made ​​his debut in 2013 in the IndyCar Series for AJ Foyt Enterprises and participated in the Indianapolis 500 in 2013 in part. In the U.S., he also completed for the team Moore Racing a race in the Indy Lights. He finished third.

2014 Daly begins the GP2 season in Venezuela GP Lazarus.

Conor Daly's father Derek Daly is a former Irish racing driver, who had set out, among other things in Formula 1 and CART series. In contrast to his father Conor Daly has the American citizenship.
