Conrad Laar

Peter Conrad Laar ( born March 22, 1853 in Hamburg, † February 11, 1929 in Bonn ) was a German chemist. He introduced in 1885 the concept of a tautomerism.

Life

He studied from 1872 to 1879 chemistry at the Polytechnic Institute of Hanover and at the University of Leipzig. In 1879 he received his doctorate. From 1880 to 1884 he was assistant to, among others, Kekulé in Bonn, before he qualified as a professor from 1884 to 1888 at the Technical University of Hanover. He then moved again to the University of Bonn, where he worked as a lecturer from 1902 to 1910. Laar was 1910-1921 Adjunct Professor, then Associate Professor until 1923, before he received a full professorship for photochemistry in this year.
