History

Prehistoric and Roman finds prove that Consdorf is located in a very old settlement area. Documented Consdorf is mentioned in the year 816 as Cunolphi Villa, 953 as Conolfi Villa; 1131 and 1552 as Consdesdorf as Kontzdorf.

The population shrank considerably during the Thirty Years War and as a result of the plague in 1636. In the following years, the population rose again ( around the year 1787). In 1890, this up and coming village counted 288 inhabitants, while Breidweiler 141 Colbette 84, Consdorf 1076. This made a total of 1589th In Consdorf there since 1919 by the Tertiarkarmelitinnen, the so-called " Zitha Sisters", run home for the elderly, the 1999 has been recognized by the nursing care as nursing facility.

Unlike Consdorf where written sources are already available from the 11th century, Scheidgen only arose much later. Although the name is first mentioned in the 16th century, however, these are hardly a place name. Only in 1766 can be found in the marriage register of the parish Consdorf a first entry of the name Scheidgen. In the following years, the name " Scheidgen " is rarely mentioned as a place name. However, after the turmoil of the French Revolution, the population increased rapidly. A census of 1843 reported 43 family names. Today, there are over 130 Scheidgen houses and about 480 inhabitants.
