Consorzio ICoN

The Consorzio ICoN is an inter-university consortium for Italian culture and philology, based in Pisa, was established in 1999. It consists of 21 Italian universities, and is led by the University of Pisa. In collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Universities and Research ( Ministero dell'Università e della Ricerca ) is dedicated to the consortium the teaching of Italian language, literature and cultural studies.

Bachelor's degree

The University of Pisa organized with the involvement of the universities of the consortium a joint, inter-university philological and cultural studies Bachelor's degree in Italian Studies ( Corso di laurea lingua e cultura italiana in triennale per stranieri ) for foreigners and Italian expatriates. This is based on e-learning bachelor's program is thematically the philological class L -10 ( Classe di Lettere Lauree ) assigned offers the four majors

  • Linguistics and didactics,
  • Literature,
  • Art and culture
  • History.

The tests are performed in the country of residence of the student ( at partner universities or Italian embassies ) or at the seat of the consortium in Pisa. The degree is awarded by the coordinating university, the University of Pisa. The conclusion of the three-year degree requires 180 ECTS credits and grants access to a thematically related master's program.

Master's degree

The Consorzio ICoN offers three non-consecutive Master studies (60 ECTS) in language and cultural studies, which are aligned part-time:

  • Translation (English -Italian ), organized by the Universities of Pisa, Bari and Genoa
  • Didactics of Italian Language and Literature, organized by the Foreign Universities of Perugia and Siena
  • Cultural Heritage Management, University of Parma

Language Courses

The consortium ICoN offers academic programs also specialized language courses for Italian. For English language learners, was developed in collaboration with the University of California, Los Angeles ( Department of Italian) a private tutorial. The courses have been awarded the European Language Label of the European Commission.
