Constantin Racoviță

Constantin Racoviţă (*, ? † February 1764 in Bucharest ) was the mid-18th century twice Prince of Wallachia ( 1753-56 and 1763-64 ) and twice Prince of Moldavia ( 1749-53 and 1756-57 ).

Like his father, Prince Mihai Racoviţă he came through influential Greeks to power, and surrounded himself as ruler especially with the Hellenes. Under Constantin Racoviţă the tax advantages gained in the Danubian Principalities intolerable levels, but also the numerous abuses and iniquities of the Greek minions outraged the indigenous population very much. However, there were no social upheaval.

Racoviţă died in February 1764 in Bucharest due to a sumptuous feast.
