Constantin Virgil Gheorghiu

Constantin Virgil Gheorghiu ( born September 15, 1916 in Valea Albă, Romania, † June 22, 1992 in Paris) was a Romanian writer and diplomat.

The son of an Orthodox priest visited the school in Chisinau and from 1936 studied philosophy and theology at the University of Bucharest and the Ruprecht -Karls- University of Heidelberg. During the dictatorship of Ion Antonescu, he was Secretary of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and press attaché of the Romanian Embassy in Croatia. From American troops, he was interned as a ministry official and his wife. Finally, he went in 1948 to France, where he lived until his death in Paris. On May 23, 1963 he was ordained after the successful completion of theological studies in Heidelberg as an Orthodox priest in the Romanian Archangel church in Paris.

His novels " The Second Chance " and " 25 clock " have been translated into 20 languages ​​, " 25 clock " filmed under the title " The twenty-fifth hour " in 1967 by Henri Verneuil, starring Anthony Quinn in the title role.
