Constitution of South Ossetia

The currently valid Constitution of the Republic of South Ossetia (Russian Конституция Республики Южная Осетия ) is already second constitution in international law unrecognized state.

It was introduced for a referendum on 8 April 2001.

The world of only four countries (Russia, Nicaragua, Venezuela and Nauru ) proclaimed republic of South Ossetia, which applies international law as part of Georgia, had introduced a Constitution already on 2 November 1993. Until then, they had no own constitution, but merely statutory regulations since the declaration of independence of 1991.

Content

The Constitution of South Ossetia consists of 93 articles which are divided into nine chapters. In addition, it also contains transitional provisions.
