Constitutional Tribunal (Poland)

Constitutional Court of the Republic of Poland (Polish: Trybunał Konstytucyjny Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej ) is the controlling body constitution in Poland. He checked the laws and other legal norms as to its compatibility with the Constitution of Poland. He judges also about compatibility of laws with ratified international treaties, conflicts of authority between central constitutional state organs, as well as on the compatibility of the objectives and activities of political parties with the Constitution.

The court was established in 1986 and has its headquarters in Warsaw.

The Constitutional Court is composed of 15 judges who are elected by the Sejm for nine years. Re-election is not allowed.

The President of the Constitutional Court and his deputies are appointed by the President of the General Assembly proposed by the judges of the Constitutional Court candidates.

The decisions of the Constitutional Court are generally binding and conclusive.
