Consultative Council (Bahrain)

The Consultative Council or the council is the upper house of the National Assembly, the main legislative body of Bahrain after the royal house; the factual gesetzbegende violence lies with the monarch Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The Council consists of 40 members who are directly appointed by the King of Bahrain. The forty seats in the Consultative Council make up the National Assembly together with the 40 elected seats of Representatives Council. All laws (except the " royal decrees " ) must be approved by both chambers of the Assembly. This allows technical experts and minority communities to have a role in the legislative process: as a Christian and a Jewish wife were appointed as members of the council.

The Chairman of the Consultative Council also serves as the Chairman of the National Assembly. The term of four years.

The largest opposition party is the Wifak.
