Contalmaison
Contalmaison ( Picard: Cantamoaison ) is a northern French village with 123 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is part of the Canton of Albert and is part of the Communauté de communes du Pays du Coquelicot.
Geography
The 7- km north-east of Albert Contalmaison location is up to the department D20 and D147 roads and extends north to the department of road D929 from Albert to Bapaume. The municipality belongs to the Ferme de la trouée.
History
The church, one of the centers of the fighting 1 Jul 1916 during the Battle of the Somme, in which also the castle was destroyed, received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
