Contig

A contig (of English. Contiguous = adjacent, contiguous ) is a set of overlapping DNA fragments ( " reads "), which originate from the same genetic source. Such contig can be used to (for example the sequence of a chromosome ) to derive the original DNA sequence of this genetic source.
