Contulmo

Contulmo on the map of Chile

Contulmo is a municipality in the South American Andean country Chile. In the Mapudungun language, the name " place of passage " means, and is located in the province of Arauco in the Región del Bío -Bío in the south of the country.

History

The history of the community Contulmo is related to the process of German colonization, which was sponsored by the government of Chile in the late years of the nineteenth century. At the beginning of 1884, the city of " San Luis de Contulmo " of 48 families from Germany, Protestant religion, newly arrived in America, was founded.
