Convenience Food

Convenience food or convenience food is a borrowed from the English term for " convenient food" ( = Convenience convenience food = food). Thus prepared foods are referred to, in which the food manufacturer assumes certain loading and processing stages in order to facilitate further preparations in private households, catering or caterers.

Classification

The Encyclopedia of Nutrition divided convenience foods and ready-to -eat foods in part ( " ready meals "). The latter are " food preparations resulting full meals that are eaten as or possibly even have to warm up short. " Part Finished foods are, however, divided into oven-ready foods that still need to be prepared before cooking such as Vegetables, fruits or cut meat; garfertige foods that only need to be cooked more like ready prepared vegetables, marinated meats and ready- preparation foods that are prepared and cooked and only need to be heated or mixed such as menus or menu components. The encyclopedia of nutrition in Baden-Württemberg lists the following categories and examples:

  • Ready to cook (eg unzubereitetes frozen vegetables, fish fillets)
  • Garfertig (eg noodles or instant soups )
  • Preparation completed (eg soup canned and frozen ready meals or mashed potatoes powder)
  • Ready to Eat ( eg, canned fish, baked goods, candy bars, ice cream or fruit yogurt)
