Convention of Artlenburg

With the convention of Artlenburg or Elbkonvention the Electorate of Brunswick-Lüneburg surrendered on July 5, 1803 over Napoleon's army.

History

After the French troops under Lieutenant-General Mortier first on June 3, 1803 initialed to responsible end of Johann Ludwig von Wallmoden - Gimborn Convention Sulingen, the Napoleonic troops occupied on June 5, 1803, the capital of Hanover, while Mortier certain the Hard Bersha home to his quarters.

At the same time kurhannoverschen troops withdrew after the surrender to the northern bank of the Elbe to the Duchy of Saxe -Lauenburg in the internment back. The ratification of the Convention of Sulingen was subsequently denied by Napoleon.

On July 5, 1803 Hanoverian commander of Wallmoden - Gimborn in Artlenburg signed the Convention on further surrender of the Electorate of Hanover and the resolution of the Hanover army.
