Convergent Technologies
The company Convergent Technologies was founded by a small force of former Intel employees in 1979 and started in the 80's known as a manufacturer of computer systems in a client server environment.
The first product was the IWS system (Integrated Workstation), which was based on the Intel 8086 processor. As an operating system developed in-house called CTOS has been implemented. Or " Mighty frame " systems based on processors from Motorola ( 68020 and 68040 68010, ) changed, with a Unix-like operating system called CTIX was used - Later with the "mini frame ".
Convergent also developed the first OEM Unix product for AT & T on the Motorola 68010, and integrated some features in the Intel AT & T Unix ( SVR3.2 ):
- Stream -based I / O operations
- Support for internationalization (multilingualism )
Convergent Technologies was acquired in 1988 by Unisys and incorporated as a " Business Division " in the company.
