Convoy Commodore

A convoy commodore is the leader of a convoy of merchant ships. He is usually the leader of the convoy protected Marine Unit, the Officer in Tactical Command ( OTC). Its task is to coordinate formation and movements of the convoy, while the OTC commands the escorting warships.

As a convoy commodore naval officers or specially trained deck officers are employed, where appropriate, the captain of one of the ships in the convoy.
