Conway is a city in Faulkner County in the U.S. state of Arkansas with 58 908 inhabitants ( 2010) and the county seat of administration ( County Seat). The metropolitan area has a size of 91.3 km ². The city is home to the University of Central Arkansas.

History

The place was shortly after the end of the Civil War, founded by an engineer of the Little Rock -Fort Smith Railroad, which later became the Union Pacific Railroad. He emerged as Conway station around a train depot. 1873 intended for the administrative seat of Faulkner County, the town was officially registered in 1875 under its current name as a community. At that time, Conway had about 200 inhabitants.

For a long time Conway an important trading center for the surrounding rural area. From 1890 arose secondary schools and 1907, the University of Central Arkansas was established in the town. After the Second World War, a broad range of economic spectrum developed in Conway addition to agriculture; also some government institutions were settled in place.
