Coonawarra

Coonawarra is a wine region in Australia and is located approximately 350 km south-east of Adelaide. At 5500 hectares is mainly red wine, especially Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, grown.

The first vines were in 1890, planted by John Riddoch, founder of Coonawarra Fruit Colony. The special feature of Coonawarra are the red clay - limestone soils, also called " terra rossa ".
