Copa Ganadores de Copa

The Copa Copa de Ganadores, also referred to as " Recopa Sudamericano de Clubes ", was a South American football club competition was twice, 1970 and 1971, played out. Eligible was a club of any South American country, who could not have qualified for the Copa Libertadores, respectively. Brazil and Colombia, however, presented in both years, no participants. It was played in groups in one place in a simple round. The competition is not to be confused with the South American Supercup, the Recopa Sudamericana.

Group 1

The games were held on 8 and 11 February 1970 at the Atahualpa Olympic Stadium in Quito ( Ecuador) instead.

Group 2

The games were held until April 5, 1970 at the Estadio Hernando Siles in La Paz ( Bolivia) on 22 March.


The first leg took place on 19 April 1970 at the Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa in Quito instead.

The return match took place on 26 April 1970 at the Estadio Hernando Siles in La Paz instead.

Group 1

It should be played in Concepción (Chile) or Montevideo ( Uruguay). Since Deportes Concepción withdrew from Chile and Huracán Buceo from Uruguay, it did not come to host the group matches. However, because the matches in Group 2 had already started, it was decided to play the tournament as a "friendship tournament" to end.

Group 2

Two games were played on 28 February, and on 3 and 7 March 1971 at the Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa in Quito ( Ecuador) instead.

Tournament victory

As the Group 1 has not played out and therefore it was no opponent in the final, América won Quito from Ecuador by his victory, the group ( Friendship ) Tournament 1971.
