Copa Master de CONMEBOL

The Copa Conmebol master, master as well as Copa Conmebol, was a football competition which was played in February 1996 among the winners of the Copa Conmebol the years 1992 to 1995. The tournament was won by Brazilian club Sao Paulo.

Venue was at that time almost 50,000 people -making as " Verdão " Estádio Governador José Fragelli known in Cuiabá, the capital of the state of Mato Grosso in west-central Brazil.

The participating teams were the Brazilian club Atlético Mineiro (winner 1992), Botafogo FR (1993 ), Sao Paulo (1994 ), and CA Rosario Central of Argentina (winner 1995). The winner was the team from São Paulo, which was at the time, coached by Muricy Ramalho, who was the club lead to a hat-trick in the national championship a decade later. The clubs were in the knockout system against each other to determine the trophy winner.

The five-time national player Almir of São Paulo is rated 5 top scorer of the tournament, before Valdir also São Paulo, and Tulio Costa Botafogo, each with three gates.

Sporty is the meaning of the tournament, which was at that time also called in Brazil ironically after about television broadcaster Copa SBT, subordinated. Even the Copa Conmenbol came after its eighth playout in 1999 to an early end.
