Copa Suecia

The Copa Suecia ( German: Swedish Cup ) was a football competition in 1958 once been registered in Argentina.

Background

Due to take place in Sweden World Cup 1958, which was attended by the Argentine national team, the regular league play in the Primera División had to be interrupted. Then gave the Swedish ambassador a trophy, the winner should be played by the teams of Argentina's first division during the break. However, the tournament attracted over the three -month break from April to July 1958 addition to 1960 back.

Competition

In two groups, each with eight teams, the finalists were played. Racing Club Avellaneda sat in Group A with ten wins in 14 matches directly, while in group B CA Atlanta and CA Rosario Central, the round tied finished and in a playoff, the Atlanta decided with a 1-0 win for himself had to determine the finalists. In the final on 29 April 1960, CA Atlanta finally crowned by a 3-1 victory as the winner of the competition. The club is led by the Argentine Football Association as an additional master in 1958 in addition to the regular champion River Plate.
