Copiula

Copiula is an amphibian genus of the family -mouthed.

Description

The pupils are horizontal. The tongue is relatively small, oblong elliptic, entire and free behind lifted. Palate teeth are missing. Is a short, strongly projecting and slightly concave bar available behind each choana. Before the throat entrance is a long denticulate transverse fold. The eardrum is sharp protruding. The fingers and toes are free and widened at the end to small adhesive discs. The terminal phalanges are T-shaped and bony. Praecoracoide and Omosternum missing. The coracoids are inclined and rather widened at the medial end. The sternum is an anchor-shaped cartilage plate. The transverse processes of the Sacralwirbels are quite broadened.

Occurrence

The genus is found only in New Guinea.
