Copley Fielding

Anthony Vandyke Copley Fielding (* November 22, 1787 in Sowerby, West Yorkshire, † March 3, 1855 in Worthing, Sussex ) was an English painter and draftsman.

Fielding, son of the portrait painter Nathan Theodore Fielding (around 1775-1818 ), distinguished himself particularly in watercolor painting and was for some time pass for the main representatives of this art, as well as for 24 years from 1831 until his death, the place of the President of the held Society of Painters in Watercolours.

Immensely productive, although not free from affectation, he made especially in landscapes and seascapes admirable. He died March 3, 1855 in Brighton.

The painter and illustrator Theodore Henry Fielding (1781-1851) was his brother.

One of his students was the painter and watercolorist William Callow.
