Copper-clad aluminium wire

A copper-clad aluminum (English copper -clad aluminum, abbreviated CCA) designated copper coated wires of aluminum. They are used in the field of electrical engineering as a cheap substitute for wires made of pure copper. The use of such cables can be dangerous due to the higher electrical resistance than copper because cable from CCA heat more at the same current strength than copper cables with same cross section.

By coating the copper wires CCA optically indistinguishable from the copper wires. Only the significantly lower weight may be noticed in larger quantities of cables.
