Copper vapor laser

The copper vapor laser belongs to the group of metal vapor lasers (see Laser ). They are at high temperatures (depending on the vapor pressure, but mostly over 1500 ° C) and operated pulsed. But this they have high gain factors. The wavelengths are in the green (510 nm) and yellow ( 578 nm) spectral range. The steam pressure of copper is about 0.005 mbar, as the required temperature is about 1700 ° C. The mechanical construction of the laser consists of a quartz tube of a heating coil with insulation, and two electrodes on which the mirrors are mounted.

Copper vapor laser can be built in relatively high power ( a few watts to many kilowatts). You need a longer time for preheating, since a sufficient amount of copper in the vapor phase must be passed before they are ready.
