Cor Kools

Cornelis Wilhelmus "Cor " Kools ( born July 20, 1907 in Tete rings; † September 24th 1985 in Breda ) was a Dutch footballer who was active at NAC Breda and 16 times played in the Dutch national team. In 1928 he was part of the Olympic team of the Dutch.

Club career

Kools Teteringen was born in what is now Bredaer district and already came with twelve years in the youth of the NAC. Even at age 18, on 7 March 1926 in a match against MVV, he made his debut in the first team. Kools was an all-around player, can be used in all positions, but was mostly in the midfield. Besides which eleven years her senior striker Antoon "advice" Verlegh he was one of the guarantors of the success of the NAC the late 1920s and early 1930s when the team consistently in the top four of the Eerste class zuid, who was then top division. Overall, he made more than 230 first division matches in which the penalty specialist scored at least 88 goals. 16 times (2 goals ), he was in championship finals on the court, 21 times (10 goals) in the KNVB Cup.

National

After Rat Verlegh, from two separate missions in 1920 and 1923, since October 1926 belonged to the tribe of the Dutch Oranje and his club colleague Piet van Boxtel had been used several times since November 1927 in the national team, Kools was in March 1928 also in the Oranje squad appointed. His first try he celebrated on April 22 in 1928 in the "old stadium" in Amsterdam - which, built at Olympic Stadium was taken until July 28 with the opening of the Olympic Games in operation - in a friendly match against Denmark, which the German referee Peco Bauwens initiated. 2-0 victory achieved Kools, used as inside forward, the second goal. The knee injury and subsequent surgery prevented further operations in the national jersey.

After the active time

Shortly after his last game for the NAC, the club appointed him on 26 July 1941, honorary member. He remained after the NAC Breda faithful and was active until 1974 at various positions as a functionary in the Board of Directors.
