Coracle

A Coracle ( Welsh: cwrwgl ) is a very small keel -less boat mainly for inland waters. The most built for one person vehicle is wicker and has a generally oval or circular shape. The boat body is covered with a skin or a tarpaulin. It is used primarily in Wales and other parts of the British Isles.

The oval hull resembles a walnut shell. Previously there was the outer skin of an animal skin (eg from a horse or beef) that had been coated with tar. Today's durable textiles (such as calico or linen ), also used fiberglass.

There are boats of similar design in other parts of the world, for in the literature of the English term has prevailed.
