Coraopolis is a small town ( with a status of " Borough " ) in Allegheny County in the western part of the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. In 2010 Coraopolis had 5677 inhabitants.

Coraopolis is part of the metropolitan area around the city of Pittsburgh.

Geography

Coraopolis is located on the south bank of the Ohio River a few miles below Pittsburgh. The city is located at 40 ° 31'06 " north latitude and 80 ° 10'00 " west longitude and extends over 3.4 km ². The intersection of the three states of Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, where the Ohio Pennsylvania leaves located 42.2 km north west of Coraopolis.

South of the Ohio borders the city on the southeast by the Robinson Township and on the west and south by the Moon Township. On a nearby island before Coraopolis in Ohio is the Neville Township.

The center of Pittsburg is located 20.6 km south east of Coraopolis. The nearest other major cities are the capital of Ohio Columbus (290 miles west), Cleveland, Ohio (201 km north-west ) and Pennsylvania's capital of Harrisburg (352 km east).

Traffic

Coraopolis is located on the Ohio River, one of the most important waterways in the eastern United States.

Through the center of Coraopolis leads parallel to the Ohio running Pennsylvania State Route 51 branches off from this road that leads over the Coraopolis Bridge to the location on an island in the Ohio Neville Township. About a kilometer west of Coraopolis crosses Interstate 79 on the Neville Iceland Bridge to Ohio.

By Coraopolis runs railway line of CSX Transportation, which runs along the Ohio to the west.

The Pittsburgh International Airport is located 16.8 km south west of Coraopolis.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2010 lived in Coraopolis 5677 people in 2680 households. The population density was 1669.7 people per square kilometer. In the 2680 households lived statistically 2.10 per person.
