The Cordillera Central is a mountain range of the island of Hispaniola and is located mostly on the territory of the Dominican Republic. In her spring the longest and most important rivers of Hispaniola: the Río Yaque del Norte, the Río Yaque del Sur and Río Yuna.

The hill was originally developed from a chain of volcanoes. It extends in the northwest -southeast orientation of the Saint -Nicolas peninsula in Haiti, the Dominican Republic from the Loma de Cabrera Restauración and out to the vicinity of Bani and San Cristóbal. As for the eastern expansion of the mountain there is, however, different views: some geographers take the stand, it EXTEND from east to west from Cabo Engaño to the border. Others, however, are based on a pure northwest - southeast orientation and denote the foothills, further extending eastward, as the Cordillera Oriental and El Seibo.

The highest mountains are the Pico Duarte with 3098 m, La Pelona with 3097 m, La Rusilla with 3029 m, 2200 m Monte Mijo and the Monte Tina with 2059 m.
