Corentin Martins

Corentin Martins ( born July 11, 1969 in Brest ) is a French former football player. He played on the position of midfielder.

Playing career

In the club

Martin began his career in 1988 at Stade Brest. He played his first season at Brest in Ligue 2 and increased with the club directly in the Ligue 1. In the following two years he reached Brest each placement in mid-table. In 1991 he left the Bretons and switched to AJ Auxerre. After he had failed to convince in Brest, he was at Auxerre one of the best players. The 1995/96 season was a success for Martin and the team: Man won the French championship and the national cup.

He then moved to Deportivo La Coruna in Spain. He remained there only a year and returned to France to Racing Strasbourg. There, too, he had success, winning the 2001 French Cup. For the 1999/00 season he was loaned to Bordeaux, did not show the good performance that once he succeeded at Auxerre. In his last season 2004/ 05 he played two games for Clermont Foot and finished after his active career.

National

Martins played from 1993 to 1996 in the French national football team. On March 27, 1993, he was the 0-1 victory against Austria in Vienna his debut in the senior team. He took part in the European Championship in England in 1996 and reached the semi-finals with the French.

He played 14 internationals for France, in which he scored a goal.

Coaching career

Martin began his coaching career in the 2006/07 season at Stade Quimpérois. In 2007, he was sports director of Stade Brest. In this context, it was in 2008, shortly coach of the first team ( after the dismissal of Pascal Janin ). In 2012 he was re- interim coach of the club after Alex Dupont five games was released before the season ends, and moved from June of the year behind Landry Chauvin back into second place. After Chauvins release on April 3, 2013 Martin again served as the interim coach of relegation-threatened team.
