Corey Elkins

Corey Elkins ( born February 23, 1985 in West Bloomfield, Michigan ) is an American professional ice hockey player who plays in the Finnish Liiga for the HIFK Helsinki since January 2013. Elkins brother Alex Foster also plays hockey at the Iserlohn Roosters. His father, Dwight Foster completed 576 games in the National Hockey League.

Career

After four seasons with the University team of Ohio State University, the center moved to the American Hockey League, where he signed with the Manchester Monarchs, a farm team of the Los Angeles Kings. In the very first season with the Monarchs, the Kings were attentive to Elkins. On 15 December 2009 he made his debut in the NHL at an away game with the Edmonton Oilers. Two days later in the 1-2 defeat at the Calgary Flames, he scored his first NHL goal. Overall Elkins graduated three NHL games.

After another season with the Manchester Monarchs of the American moving to Europe to the Czech extra league team HC Pardubice. July 9, 2012 Elkins signed a two -way one-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks. There, however, he came only in the Farm Team Norfolk Admirals and Fort Wayne Komets used. On January 5, 2013, the contract was terminated by mutual consent. For the rest of the match played at the Elkins HIFK Helsinki. Thanks to its good performance, especially in the play- offs, his contract was extended for another year in the summer of 2013.

Play

The strengths of the U.S. American's are in his stature, he plays with high intensity. In addition, he is a good powerplay player to score his goals regularly. Even in shorthanded game it is quite usable.
