Corey Millen

Corey Millen ( born March 30, 1964 in Cloquet, Minnesota ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player ( striker ), who from 1990 to 2002 for the New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, New Jersey Devils, the Dallas Stars and Calgary Flames played in the National Hockey League and for the Cologne Sharks in the DEL.

Career

Corey Millen started his professional career in 1982 at the University of Minnesota. In the same year the right shooting attacker of the New York Rangers during the NHL Entry Draft in 1982 was drafted in 57th place. He played four years in the university team, interrupted by a year in the U.S. Olympic team, with whom he also took part in the Olympic Games in Sarajevo. 1987/88 he played another year exclusively for the U.S. national team and came to his second outing at the Olympics.

Following this, he moved first to Europe and played one season for the Swiss national league team HC Ambri -Piotta. In the Ice Hockey World Championship in 1989, he represented his country again, but was tested positive after two preliminary games on non- anabolic testosterone and eliminated from the tournament. In the 1984 Olympics he had already tested positive for testosterone. At that time it was found by doctors that his body produces too much natural testosterone. The IIHF made ​​this statement in 1989 no longer apply. For the 1989/90 season, he returned to North America and signed a contract with the New York Rangers. Until 1997, he played in the NHL for the Rangers, the Los Angeles Kings, New Jersey Devils, the Dallas Stars and the Calgary Flames. He celebrated his biggest success in 1992/93 when he reached with the Kings, the Stanley Cup Finals, where, however, the Montreal Canadiens defeated in five games.

In 1997, Millen then a second time across the Atlantic, this time to Germany, where he played in the DEL for the Cologne Sharks. In the five years that he was active on the Rhine, he was with the sharks once German champion (2001/ 02 ) and one runner-up (1999 /2000). In the two years that followed, he played again briefly when HC Lugano and EHC Visp in the first and second Swiss league, before he ended his career in 2004.
