Corippo

Corippo is a municipality in the Valle Verzasca ( Verzasca Valley ). It belongs to the district of Verzasca, Locarno district of the Canton of Ticino in Switzerland. Corippo is the number of inhabitants according to the smallest municipality in Switzerland. The village center has been declared a National Monument in 1975 and awarded as an example.

Geography

The scattered village lies in the valley section of the river Verzasca, at the northern end of the lake (Lago di Vorgorno ).

Population

Corippo is with only 12 permanent inhabitants (as at 31 December 2010) is the smallest municipality in Switzerland. Eight residents are male, four female.
