Corliss Orville Burandt

Corliss Orville Burandt was an American inventor of the automatic camshaft adjustment.

When working on a 1965 Chevrolet Corvair he brought a sensor in the cylinder in order to optimize the fuel-air mixture in the combustion.

He transferred the patent rights to the venture capital firm Investment Rarities, which specialized in the trading of gold. When they suffered financial setbacks in the 1980s, they had not paid the fees for the maintenance Burandts patent, which the invention has been public domain.
