Cormega

Cormega (* in Brooklyn, New York, as Corey McKay ) is an American rapper. Cormega first became known by his former friendship and the subsequent challenge with Nas as well as by his differences with Def Jam Records.

Biography

McKay grew up in the Queensbridge Projects, from which also Nas, Mobb Deep, Tragedy Khadafi and Capone of Capone -N- Noreaga come on. His livelihood, he denied as in the area not uncommon with drug trafficking. Before he had in 1991 to serve a five -year prison sentence, he took two songs with the duo PHD (Poet & Hot Day) on: " Straight Up & Set it Off ".

1990

Nas, who was his best friend at this time, dedicated to him a line in, written as a letter, song "One Love": "What's up with Cormega, did you see 'em, are y'all together", on his first LP Illmatic, which was published in 1994.

In 1996 Nas ' second album " It Was Written ". On the eighth song on the album " Affirmative Action " appear Cormega, Nas, AZ & Foxy Brown, both from Brooklyn, as "The Firm", which should be produced among others by Dr. Dre and the Trackmasters for the first time. Nas ' manager Steve Stoute submitted Cormega an agreement that " The Firm " project on which he refused. Therefore, Cormega was replaced by the originating also from Queensbridge rapper Nature. His already-recorded contributions for The Firm album has been deleted. From the song " La Familia ", there are two versions. One with Cormega, which was never officially released, and one with Nature, which was published on the single of the Foxy Brown song " I'll Be ". Also, there is a remix of the song " Affirmative Action ", which was released on the B-side of Nas ' single " Street Dreams ".

Since then, Cormega was both with Nas as well as Nature in the dispute. He has published several Disstracks against the two, so among other things: "Fuck Nas & Nature, A Slick Response & Real Matic ". Nas took on Cormega among other things in the songs " Stillmatic Freestyle" and "Destroy and Rebuilt " reference.

With the success of " affirmative action " was attentive Def Jam on Cormega and signed him. The debut solo album The Testament should appear in 1998, but was moved from Def Jam over again. Appeared in 2001, on the Legal Hustle label he founded Records, the album "The Realness ". In 2002, he released his second LP The True Meaning.
