Cornelia Linse

Cornelia lens ( born October 3, 1959 in Greifswald) is a former rower from the German Democratic Republic. In 1985 she became world champion one.

Cornelia lens began at the BSG Greifswald and finished 1977 with the children and youth Spartakiade third place in the quadruple sculls. After her move to SC DHfK Leipzig she won in 1978 along with the almost same old Heidi Westphal fifth place in the East German championship in the double sculls. The following year they won the East German championship and then the World Championships in Bled. At the Olympic Games in 1980 won the two rowers from the USSR Yelena Chlopzewa and Larissa Popova, a little over one second behind rowed Westphal and lens to the silver medal.

1981 changed lens and Westphal in the quadruple sculls. Lens was from 1981 to 1983, respectively vice world champion behind the Soviet sculls with Chlopzewa and Popova. 1984 Cornelia lens joined to the One and defeated at the regatta on Rotsee twice the Romanian Valeria Racila. At the 1984 Olympic Games Cornelia lens was unable to attend because of the Olympic boycott, Valeria Racila was Olympic champion. 1985 won Cornelia lens in Hazewinkel their only world title in one. She was awarded several times with the Patriotic Order of Merit. 1984 and 1986 she received the medal in gold.

After her career, the graduate sports teacher at Radio GDR in Leipzig worked, after the turn, she moved to the MDR to Magdeburg.
